Well here we are, back once again after what seemed like an eternity away from doing what we enjoy the most. It’s been so wonderful to welcome you all back to our various events, we have missed you and it seems you have all missed Pat’s delicious cooking! All of our projects are back and in full swing. Our toddlers play group on Tuesdays mornings is growing every week, we have waved goodbye to the little ones that have gone off to big school and have opened our doors to a new generation of toddlers. Little Ed’s, our Youth club for years 4 & 5 and #Kidspace for years 6, 7 & 8 are growing weekly so if you have children in those years that you think would enjoy some time out to chill and relax with their friends then get in touch. Studies show that Youth groups are a really great way to build confidence and can do wonders for your kids metal health and well being.
Our Youth Cafe which is aimed at Yr 9′ s and above has suffered a little at the hands of Covid, with most of our teens that used to attend now grown up and moving on. But we will not be beaten, our youth workers are working on new ways to encourage our local teens to join us at our weekly sessions where they can hang out with friends, try their hands at new activities or just have a chat over a game of pool or table tennis.
On Mondays we have opened our doors to host a new group called “Your Space”. This was in response to members of the community suggesting a need to get together, perhaps try some new activities, art, crafts etc… or simply chat and get to know each other over a cuppa and a slice of cake. The first week saw us painting which some hadn’t done since schooldays, it was really enjoyable and actually quite therapeutic! Our second session we felt the need to sit and chat and get to know each other…it was lovely, stories were swapped, memories exchanged, old mutual friends discovered, it really was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. So if you fancy just getting out of the house for a few hours, why don’t you pop in – you’d be most welcome! It’s every Monday afternoon at 2pm and cost is £2.
Autumn sees the launch of our Driving Skills Theory Workshop. We are halfway through our first course and have had excellent feedback. With all theory tests now booked we have a whole new group of starters well on their way to becoming drivers. We have a new course starting on 3rd November 2021 at 7pm, all you need is a provisional license. Contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org to join the next course.
This Autumn will also see the welcome return of our popular Afternoon Tea events. We transform the hall and you will be served in style with homemade sandwiches, cakes and tea served in fine china teacups, it’s a very stylish event! Tickets for this event with be available shortly.
Another exciting project which will be available to StEP supporters is our collaboration with Kinetika and Mottingham Silk to create some beautiful and commemorative silk flags. More on this is in our NEWS section.
And finally, with Covid, lockdown and everything else it brought, there has been a huge pressure on doctors surgeries and health professionals. With this in mind, StEP would like to remind the community that we offer a counselling service with our BACP registered counsellor, who will help you explore what is concerning you in a safe environment with no judgement. We offer a free face to face no obligation assessment or a telephone assessment where you can discuss with the counsellor future sessions, book in advance, and cost per session. Complete confidentiality throughout ensured.
So, a very busy start to what looks like a very exciting Autumn here at StEP. We really hope that you can join us at some of our events, we’d love to see you!
