Strengthening & Empowering People

Spring News

Spring has well and truly sprung and we at Step are busy as usual making sure that we are providing our local community with the opportunities that everyone deserves after a really difficult couple of years of Covid. Whilst this virus is still very much part of daily life, we seem to have learnt to live with it. Our settings are still very safe with volunteers and staff regularly testing, wearing masks if required and isolating at home if they are positive. We’re so glad to say that all our projects are back and as popular as ever. We have had another successful Afternoon Tea with the very talented Tracey Jay present to entertain the crowd with her soulful rendition of the greatest hits from the past 30 years. This popular event is often a sell out so book your tickets early to save disappointment.

We started a new driving theory workshop in February and were thrilled with the response. We have a full house with over half of our group already booked to take their test. We hope to be running another later in the year.

This past few months has seen a real boost to our Youth Clubs, attendance is really high with the children turning their hand to many new activities. Cooking has been particularly popular with the children turning out delicious goodies each week – and they’re learning great skills at the same time! The kitchen is cleaned and tidied by the time the session is over with almost no nagging! The feedback we have been getting from the children and their parents is very positive and word is spreading. So if you’re looking for a safe and friendly environment, with trained and qualified your leaders and workers, for your children to take those next steps towards a little bit of independence, then bring them along to one of our Youth Groups, details can be found here Mini Ed’s and here Kidspace.

Finally we would love to expand our team of volunteers, we really do love what we do, volunteering gives so much back to your community and also can create a wonderful feeling of satisfaction. You’ll often hear a volunteer say they get far more out than they put in, if you have a couple of hours to spare and would like to be part of the team, please do get in touch, email us at alev.stedproject@gmail.comfor more information or download our volunteer pack here Volunteer Training.
