Strengthening & Empowering People

Are you interested in volunteering and looking for something rewarding to do?

Do you have skills and have time to spare?

If you answered YES to these questions, then you are just the person we need!

Volunteering can be hugely rewarding and help develop:

  • new skills
  • ability to meet people from a range of backgrounds
  • a sense of connection
  • reduce isolation
  • establish a sense of belonging and purpose
  • achieve personal fulfilment

At StEP, we value all our volunteers. They are a crucial part of StEP’s staff team and we welcome the skills they can bring to the work we do, providing support across a range of activities and enabling volunteers to extend their skill set. Feedback from our existing team indicates that Volunteers can get involved working with young people, families and older people; office support; cooking and or kitchen support; supporting learners and our small group activities.

If you feel that volunteering for StEP is something you would enjoy, applying is easy. You can contact our Admin Assistant, Alev Moore at if you would like more information or complete the Volunteer Application Form.

StEP requires volunteers to have an enhanced *DBS check and to provide references from 2 people who are not family members. Volunteers receive a full induction session which includes details of our policies such as Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Risk Assessment etc. as well as ongoing training and a worker to shadow initially.

*DBS checks are a legal requirement for anyone working with children, young people and vulnerable adults. (Disclosure and Barring Service)
